Earlier this morning, at around 9:00 AM (GMT+7), reports emerged that the U.S. is close to reaching an interim agreement with Iran and Oman to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. According to regional sources and a U.S. official, Washington is targeting a Wednesday announcement.

The proposed agreement aims to restore the collapsed ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran and pave the way for renewed negotiations over a nuclear deal. Under the reported plan, the Strait of Hormuz would reopen for an initial 60-day period. During this time, inbound vessels would transit through a shipping lane in Iranian waters, while outbound vessels would use a southern lane through Omani waters. No tolls or transit fees would be charged during the 60-day period.

The agreement also reportedly includes a commitment to clear naval mines from the median shipping lane within 30 days. Once completed, the median lane would be used for both inbound and outbound traffic under a permanent arrangement to be negotiated between Oman and Iran.

The latest developments are consistent with reports released last night indicating that Iran is considering allowing European nations to assist with clearing mines in the Strait of Hormuz, despite previously opposing such involvement.

Following the reports released at 9:00 AM (GMT+7), U.S. crude oil fell 1.30% while Brent crude declined 1.27% as of 11:23 AM (GMT+7), reflecting expectations of improving supply conditions. Over the same period, the U.S. Dollar Index (DXY) was down 0.12%, while gold rose 0.94%, supported by the weaker U.S. dollar and easing inflation concerns as lower oil prices reduce upward pressure on energy costs.
