US-China Talk: There was no breakthrough as anticipated between President Donald Trump and China’s leaders last night, which led to a downtrend in the gold price as uncertainty eased. Despite having no clear details in their discussion, Trump also hinted at a positive signal on their talk and cited that “China is not easy”. Trump also mentioned a future discussion on Tuesday at 10 AM in London time (approximately around 4 PM in Cambodia time).

Tesla: The Relationship between Trump and Elon Musk got better, as Trump is open to talking with him and cited that, “I am not going to get rid of Tesla and Starlink at the White House.” Tesla’s stock price surged to 308.71 per share as investors gained more confidence in their relationship.

Nuclear Talk: The United States will have another sixth round of nuclear talks with Iran–either on Friday in Oslo or on Sunday in Muscat, as per ForexLive News. Even if the talk did not go exactly smoothly as it seems, it’s seen that there is a chance for further negotiation.

The US Economy: Citi downgraded its forecasts for the FED FUND rate from July to September, with three rate cuts instead of four, although the CME Fedwatch Tool projected two rate cuts this year. And yet, Deutsche Bank also warns that the potential of holding rates longer would come and bite the US economy, especially with a rising sovereign bond term premium push for a rising risk default environment. For now, Deutsche anticipates that the defaults could hit as high as 5.5% around mid-next year.

The Bank of Japan: The Bank of Japan’s Ueda seeks more confirmation from the recent data and promises to tighten the monetary policy if the inflation rate hovers around the annual target rate of 2%. Despite this, Ueda’s comment weakened the JPY and strengthened the USD, causing the USDJPY to surge higher to approximately 145 on early Tuesday.
