Key Events to Consider:

  • A reacceleration in war tension in the Middle East: Israel struck Yemen, Lebanon, and Syria, as well as Gaza, where airstrikes killed at least 54 people on Monday, while they also announced a plan to expand the “intensive” war on Gaza. Israel’s plan includes moving the entire Gaza population to the south. This heightened war tension will continue to put more upward pressure on the GOLD prices last night.
  • As stated by the White House Spokesperson, he reassures that “the administration is exploring all options to deliver on President Trump’s directive,” before making a final decision 100% on foreign film tariffs.
  • US Treasury Secretary Bessent delivered a positive message to many, given that he expected to see more long-term investment in the US economy through Trump’s tariff plan, tax cuts, and deregulation agendas. Lowering the interest rate now should be suitable.

Forward-Looking:

  • May 13-15, 2025: US President Donald Trump is expected to visit Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, which will likely focus on “bilateral issues and investment.
  • Trump’s envoy is also expected to visit Israel next week, which could be an opportunity for a Gaza hostage deal, as per an Israeli Defence Official. In fact, if no deal is reached, Israel will begin an operation (an expanded military operation) against Gaza. However, some reports also mentioned that “Nothing good can come out of a visit to Israel at the moment.”
